Dr. Zak El-Ramly formed Zema in 1995 in response to progressive changes towards competition in electric power. This new Zak’s venture supported his continued involvement in market transformation and building tools to facilitate competitive market operation. Zema was initially formed to transfer competitive market principals and implement trade and risk policies and operations; the company soon transitioned to developing software products required to meet the growing needs of participants in energy and commodities markets.
